How do I join YJSP?

The Fall 2025 onboarding form is now open. Please fill it out to gain access to the YJSP onboarding teams. YJSP has a pretty open approach to onboarding- we accept most people who demonstrate passion and eagerness to learn and challenge themselves. Remember that acceptance is NOT based on prior skill or experience.

Once you are added to the onboarding teams, you will be able to learn more about the different disciplines and upcoming events.

In the meantime, please feel free to DM any of our team leads on MS Teams and ask any questions you have! We are more than happy to answer!!

Is YJSP a good fit for me?

We thrive when we put our minds together and work as a team. We learn together and teach each other, so no prior experience is necessary. If youโ€™re passionate about space exploration and rocket science, then YJSP will welcome you.

What will I get out of YJSP?

YJSP is a snapshot of the real-world aerospace industry. This is where you get to apply all the theory you learn in classes. Through hands-on projects and mentorship, we'll help you gain competence and confidence in your technical skills. Along the way, youโ€™ll also learn how to communicate effectively with a large team, produce technical documentation and design reviews, and work to a budget and schedule. Finally, you'll bond with an incredible community of students who will push you to be the best engineer you can be.

As a member, what would be expected of me?

Remember that passion for rockets that was mentioned earlier? Thatโ€™s all we expect from you. Attendance in meetings and work sessions isnโ€™t mandatory, of course, but it takes effort from a lot of dedicated people to make these rockets fly. To get the most out of YJSP, we recommend a time commitment of at least 10 hours per week. Previous experience with engineering isnโ€™t expected, but you should be curious and motivated to learn. Ask questions, and ask them often.
