Prometheus Engine Hotfire

A few weekends ago, YJSP successfully hot-fired our ablatively cooled engine, Prometheus! Prometheus is one of two potential flight engines for Vespula, designed to produce 2,500 lbf of thrust using RP-1 and LOX at a mixture ratio of 2.0.

We achieved a near full-duration burn of 22 seconds before running out of fuel. This a huge milestone for the team and our longest hotfire burn ever! With this success, we’re excited to move forward into the manufacturing phase of our flight-ready ablative engine for launch.
