Scrintle Injector

Felicette’s Calico Engine uses scrintle as its injector, and both Darcy I and Darcy II used scrintle. The name scrintle comes from Half Cat Rocketry's combination of “screw” and “pintle.” Scrintle is a very simple and reliable injector design that is easy to machine and implement. This is the reason scrintle was used on Darcy I and Darcy II, and it was chosen for Felicette because of the club’s test heritage with the design. Felicette scrintle was subject to water flow testing and cold flows with CO2 and IPA to characterize its performance, which showed lower-than-expected results (low 70s). However, the team chose to continue with the design in order to launch Felicette as soon as possible.
