The fincan is one of the most structurally complex components on Vespula. Both the carbon fiber tapered boattail and the fins were fully designed, analyzed, and fabricated in‑house using a wide range of manufacturing techniques. The process included a composite wet-layup of the boattail, post-layup machining, waterjet cutting of the fins, and precisely integrating the fins and boattail together using custom-designed tooling. This ensured accurate fin alignment and maintained angular and positional tolerances, ensuring reliable aerodynamic performance during flight.
