Prometheus | Vespula-Class Ablatively Cooled Engine
Prometheus is a Kerosene-Liquid Oxygen ablatively cooled composite liquid rocket engine. It uses a silica-epoxy thermal liner, protecting the engine from hot combustion gases by slowly eroding during the burn. A carbon fiber epoxy overwrap reinforces the structure. Thanks to its lightweight materials, Prometheus weighs just 25 lbs and can withstand nominal chamber conditions for up to 30 seconds.
